Fly Cozumel is proud to present the 6th edition of the most important Annual Aerial Photography Contest of the Mexican Caribbean; this year the theme is the last Virgin island of the Mexican Caribbean. The project started in 2016 and is dedicated to show the beauty of the landscapes of Cozumel and the Riviera Maya and the places that one can even more appreciate from the sky.
The Aerial Photography Contest works like this. During a Fly Cozumel flight the photographers have the chance to take their best shots and deliver it to the world via a Fly Cozumel voting page.
Every Year, the Fly Cozumel team makes a selection of the best photographers in the field. Photographers like Erik Ruiz and Mik ´n Drik Photography previously joined. And thousands and thousands of people have enjoyed and voted during the last years. Drumroll….. This year’s edition competitors are Sol & Matt of Del Sol Photography; which have delivered mind-blowing photos for weddings and became trend setters in “trash the dress” photography sessions that have been featured in The Huffington Post and National Geographic.
Since the first edition, the Annual Aerial Photography Contest is being organized together with Cozumel 4 You, a large community of Cozumel Island lovers. After 5 editions of showing the beauty of Cozumel, Laura of Cozumel 4 You and Leo of Fly Cozumel decided that it was time to spread wings. It was decided to dedicate the 6th version of the Annual Aerial Photography Contest to the Last Virgin Island of the Mexican Caribbean, Cayo Culebra. Cayo Culebra is a short flight away from Cozumel and is situated south of Tulum in the Sian Kaan reserve.
We were so very excited to see Sol and Matt in full action above the Riviera Mayan sky on board of our brand new Cessna 206 Station Air. It became an unforgettable flight. We flew around unexplored places of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere. An hour full of “oooooh, aaaaaah, omg, wow and un-be-lie-va-ble”. After flying over Tulum and the first colorful area of Sian Kaan, we reached the Last Virgin Island of the Mexican Caribbean, where these 2 photographers captured the beautiful natural unseen corners, coastal wetlands and shimmering lagoons. The result of this Aerial expedition not only delivered the best captions, but also will set a precedent in the history of the Sian Ka’an human explorations.
The jury of this 2021 edition Aerial Photography Contest will be YOU! You can vote on your favorite photos. Anyone can place votes from any device. Votes will be counted as of today until Tuesday 9th of February 2021.
