Cancun and Isla Mujeres

Seaweed Update Cancun Riviera Maya

Cancun Hotels

The beaches of the Cancun Hotel zone mid May 2019 are Seaweed Free, some lost Seaweed on the public beach at the most. The resorts north of Cancun in Playa Mujeres have some Seaweed on the shore, but not in a disturbing way. Isla Mujeres is Seaweed Free. Popular beautiful beach Playa Norte is Seaweed free. Enjoy Summer!

Cozumel

Good news when you like white sand of Caribbean Islands. The West side of Cozumel Island is Seaweed free. The coasts are clear for hotels / resorts like Iberostar, Occidental, Fiesta Americana, Presidente, Hotel Cozumel, Cozumel Palace, Hotel B and Westin. Melia Resort might have some amount of seaweed once and a while. Looking for a Beach Club without Seaweed in Cozumel? We highly recommend beach club The Cabaña Beach.

At this moment The East Side of Cozumel (Mezcalitos, Playa Bonita. Hotel Ventanas al Mar) does have some Seaweed at some spots. Playa Bonita is full of Seaweed, though Rasta´s is Seaweed free. Hotel Ventas al Mar has some Seaweed on the beach, but in an acceptable amount.

Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen

It is very hard to give a general advice. Playa del Carmen has Seaweed. On the beaches and in the ocean. Though there is also some better news. Seaweed is being removed and some parts are just clean and have no Seaweed. Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen today, May 2019, have some areas completely Seaweed free. Other parts have Seaweed. Even in the same bay it may have these differences. Same is for Akumal and Puerto Aventuras.

Tulum

The situation in Tulum these days is not so good…. There is quite some Seaweed on the beaches and the ocean in front of the Mayan Ruins of Tulum is brownish of Seaweed.

The info we published today is the current situation and can change rapidly, feel free to leave a comment. It is our pleasure to give you a more specific Seaweed Update about a certain area or resort for Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya or Tulum: bookit@flycozumel.com.
