Fly Cozumel will bring you to the Tulum Mayan Ruins in only 20 minutes by Airplane from Cozumel.

You will arrive at the Ancient City of Tulum before the crowds and before the hot weather.

No more traveling by ferry and by bus for hours!

Visit Tulum where Mayan history meets the amazing colors of the Caribbean sea, and one of the best beaches in the area.

This is the perfect Cozumel shore excursion: the Mayan ruins of Tulum, plus some time on a picture-perfect beach with lunch.

Mayan Ruins of Tulum from Cozumel

Tulum is quite different from other Mayan sites; the ruins are situated on steep cliffs overlooking the ocean.

Tulum is the site of a Pre-Columbian Maya walled city serving as a major port for Cobá.

The ruins are situated on tall cliffs above the beautiful coastline.

Tulum was one of the last cities built and inhabited by the Maya; it was at its height between the 13th and 15th centuries and managed to survive about 70 years after the Spanish began occupying Mexico.

Visiting the Mayan Ruins of Tulum during the day can be hot and hectic; it’s a very popular attraction in Mexico.

Wouldn’t it be much nicer to have the whole site (almost) to yourself?

Flying from Cozumel by airplane allows you to visit Tulum early in the morning, out of the hot sun and without many tourists that arrive on day trip tours by bus/car.

About the Tulum Ruins

This Maya site may formerly have been known by the name Zama, meaning City of Dawn, because it faces the sunrise.

Tulum is also the Mayan word for fence or wall.

There are three major structures of interest at the Tulum site: El Castillo, the Temple of the Frescoes, and the Temple of the Descending God are the three most famous buildings.

The site’s main structure, El Castillo (the Castle), was used as a lighthouse! Two small windows at the top allowed sailors to navigate the ocean reef at dusk. If the captain could see daylight through both windows, that meant he was on the right course.

Below the temple is a secluded beach that you can actually swim at while you’re visiting the site. Make sure to bring your swimsuit! Swimming under the old ruined temple on the cliff above you is an incredible experience.

Tulum archaeological site is relatively compact compared with many other Mayan sites in the area and is one of the best-preserved coastal Mayan sites.

We will fly you in our comfortable Airplane from Cozumel in 20 minutes to Tulum and you will arrive before the crowds. The flight is beautiful over the Caribbean waters and partly over Cozumel.

Our private guide will be waiting for you in Tulum to show you this amazing MUST SEE archaeological site.

After visiting the ruins a traditional Mexican lunch will be served. The total time of this Tulum by airplane shore excursion is between 4 and 5 hours.

The Royal treatment. If you’ve ever felt you deserved or wanted to be treated like royalty, try taking a tour with Fly Cozumel. Me, my husband and two friends have wanted to go to Tulum for ages but never have the time or the energy for the trek from Cozumel in the heat. Fly Cozumel seemed to be the answer, and it most certainly was.

From start to finish, Leo was amazing to deal with: accessible, responsive, good-humoured and, above all, professional. The tour was personalised and tailored exactly to what we wanted to do, at our speed. We were really spoiled, and I could get quite used to all the pampering and chauffeuring.

Luís, who escorted us around all day, is a really interesting and lovely person to spend time with. Everything was arranged for us and went like clockwork: taxis waiting for us: from plane to ruins, to lunch on the beach, back to the waiting plane after lunch. The tour guide was waiting for us at the entrance to the ruins and took us around and explained everything to us, answered questions, took photos with us, and generally made sure we got as much as possible from our time there. It wasn’t too long either, and we were there long before the crowds arrived, and before it got too hot. You do not want to be walking around in that heat at midday, believe me. Lunch was lovely, by the beach just along the coast, and then back to the plane and home. It was perfect. We were never hurried along or felt herded. It was really relaxing and everything was at our pace.

The views from the air, both there and back, are breathtaking, and Luís was acting as our personal paparazzo and taking plenty of pictures which Leo shared with us later.

It was a day to remember, forever. You will not find an easier or more pleasant way to see Tulum, and you would be hard-pressed to find anywhere else the quality of service provided by Fly Cozumel.

Just did this with my husband and two friends. It was amazing, and everyone at Fly Cozumel went out of their way to make sure everything went smoothly, from Cozumel to Tulum and back. Leo is very professional and is great to work with. His team is first class. Luis, who was our guide, was a dream. I cannot recommend Fly Cozumel highly enough. Thank you, Leo, Luis and Hugo!!!

  3. Karla

After visiting the Isalnd of Cozumel for 35 years, I finally had the privilege of viewing it from above; it was beyond beautiful!!! Thank you Leo and Omar for being willing to customize our trip with the fly over of Tulum and doing so on such short notice. You guys are first class and we will definitely be arranging more adventures with you in the near future!
AND……. Jon loved his ball cap, It actually fit his large head ;)
