Leo, the owner, picked us up at the hotel we were staying at right on schedule at 8am. He drove us to the airport in Cozumel and we then flew in a small aircraft from Cozumel directly into the airport at Chichen Itza. Very nice 40-45 minute flight. Upon arrival at the airport we were greeted by a van who drove us straight into the park. Our tour guide there, Tortuga, was a most interesting and knowledgeable gent. He walk through the park with us gave us a non-stop history of the ruins. He was both informative and humorous! After the ruins we were driven a nearby cenote for a swim in the beautiful, clear water. Had lunch and a cerveza at the cenote and then a short drive back to the airport. The return flight was very pleasurable as well. The pilot, Benjamin, was a very skilled and friendly gentleman. We were back at the Cozumel airport by mid afternoon with lots of the day remaining ahead of us. The is the ideal way to visit the ruins and avoid the ferry ride, and then a long bus ride. I would highly recommend this to all!

We had an absolutely awesome time. This was definitely the way to get to and see C.I. Just as we were leaving, crowds of people were entering and there were long lines of buses and cars to get into the park. Tortuga is a national treasure and Oyuki was wonderful.
Thanks -Ken

Thank you for making our visit to Cozumel so successful. Given our docking time and the travel time to Cozumel normal ground transportation to the ruins was not possible. We chose your guide service. There are others who will fly one to the ruins. BUT, they do not pick up and return directly at the ship and do not have the personal service you provide. It gave us a considerable feeling of security to know you were going to fly there with us and then had your own personal guide to show us the ruins. Talk about feeling special. You even managed to dodge most of the lines.
Upshot, I just wish I had someone like you at every port; would make travel so much easier.

For me, the flight was almost as much fun as the ruins. A really marvelous view of Cozumel and the forest lands on the way. We had an easy trip, a good guided tour of the ruins and then an easy flight back to the ship. Door to door service. Fast, efficient and painless.

For all those reading this review, I am found at whunkins@yahoo.com and I have become a real fan of Leo and his service. Save yourself a lot of grief, use Leo!

Best tour we’ve ever been on- hands down. Leo was awesome guide/pilot and delivered some awesome sights at Chitzen Itza!

I wanted to tour the Mayan ruins of chichen itza while we were in port in Cozumel. We had always exclusively book our shore excursions through the cruise line. Having to sit on a bus for hours and hours at our age didn’t sound appealing to us. We searched the internet for a better alternate and and found FlyCozumel which offered a Mayan Ruins of Chichen Itza By Airplane tour. We were skeptical and nervous doing a private excursion. A couple of months before the arrival of the Royal Caribbean Oasis Of The Seas in Cozumel we e-mailed Leo and asked him the following questions.

1.Is it possible to visit the Mayan Ruins of Chichen Itza and do an Island Tour of Cozumel in a day?

2.Also, would you be able to provide us roundtrip transportation to and from cruise port and guarantee that we will be back in Cozumel before the Cruise Ship departs at 6:00 pm?

3.Is lunch provided?

4.I am a 100% permanent and total service connected disabled American veteran.  I am able to walk with the assistance of a cane although at a slow pace. However, I do have some difficulty with climbing stairs or getting in and out of a car but should be able to manage getting onto the plane.  Will my disability be a problem?

Leo was very professional, courteous and prompt in responding our emails. Through the WhatsApp he answered all our questions. His thoughtfulness and responsiveness in those communications gave us confidence in moving forward with the booking and the reservation was made.

Leo and Oyuki met us outside the cruise terminal in Cozumel where the Royal Caribbean Cruise Oasis Of The Seas docked and had a taxi arranged to take us to the Cozumel airport.

When we arrived at Chichen Izan airport, we had the whole airport in Chichen Itza to ourselves. We saw a couple of abandoned military C-130 cargo planes and there were two army soliders with M-16 rifles patrolling the airport. A taxi was waiting for us and driver who took us to the Mayan Ruins.

Our English speaking tour guide was filled with knowledge (he even brought a binder filled with pictures) and made touring the ruins so much more enjoyable.” There were no lines at all. Tickets were in our hands and we went right into the ruins. We were disappointed that tourists were not allowed to climb the pyramid anymore, but the experience was still fantastic. We had time to do a little shopping at the vendor tables inside.

After the tour, our same taxi driver took us to go swimming in a cenote and have lunch. They have nice change rooms, showers and lockers for a small fee.

Leo runs a very well orchestrated operation out of Cozumel. This trip exceeded our expectations.
We felt very welcomed and very well taken care of during our tour from Cozumel to the Mayan Ruins at Chichen Itza. The whole day was spectacular and an fantastic experience. Leo and Oyuki went out of their way to accommodate my disabilities.

Chichen Itza by Airplane tour does cost much more than booking the Mayan Ruins bus shore excursion straight through Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, but it is worth every penny. The tour price was all-inclusive except for tips. We would recommend Leo and Fly Cozumel to anyone wanting to visit Chichen Itza who can not endure a long bus ride. When we come back, we’ll make a flight again.

Great custom tour all to ourselves. We visited Cozumel via cruise ship and had a very limited amount of time. Leo at Fly Cozumel customized our trip and got us to Chichen Itza and back to our ship with plenty of time to see everything we wanted to. We received personalized service not available through other tour operators in the area.

“The Only Way To Go To Chichen Itza!” We took a guest to visit Chichen Itza with Fly Cozumel. We had previously survived the ferry to PDC and bus to the ruin ordeal and were reluctant to repeat it. We went on the small plane with Leo and it was great! We left from the Aerodomo and we were at the site about 1 hr. later. Our guide, Pamela, could not have been more personable or helpful. We arrived at the ruins before all the crowds and had one of the best site guides ever, Jorge (“Turtle”). He was so funny yet very knowledgeable about the site and the best way to see it. Seeing the ruins by air was amazing in itself. We stopped at a cocina locale for lunch and had some fabulous tastes of the Yucatan. We then visited a cenote and tasted a local brew, Ceiba, before flying back to Cozumel. The tour price was all-inclusive except for tips. We were home in time for dinner! Kudos to Leo and the crew!

Awesome – Thank you Leo! We had a great time with Oyuki- she was great as well as our pilot to took us there and back safely (always appreciated). Tortuga was great and really gave us a nice insight to the ruins – we’re glad we made the trip with you.

Thanks Leo – much appreciated.

From start to finish this trip was top notch. What an amazing experience. Every aspect of the trip was professionally handled and friendly. Leo’s excellent communication and timely responses were appreciated. Thank you. Also, I would like to thank Pamela for her direction and the handling of our trip. Every detail was perfect. Our tour guide was Turtle. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. The trip to the cenote was amazing and beautiful. The experience was perfect. I highly recommend this trip and Fly Cozumel.

Our entire day was fabulous. Thank you to Pamela. She was “the best”. She took care of us all day. I will highly recommend you and your operation and your tour. It was top notch. Thank you.

This was the highlight of our cruise. Leo made sure we had an amazing experience. He did not disappoint. From the very beginning when I first contacted him weeks before, he stayed in constant contact with me explaining everything about the day and what to expect. When the cruise ship arrived, a cab was waiting for us to take us to the airport, no hassles. We went with two other couples from the ship and then joined up with six other people from another group on the same cruise. The plane seemed relatively new and the ride was amazingly smooth. The pilot flew over the ship so we can get great pictures, and we were in Chichen Itza in about 45 minutes. He did another fly over the site before we landed. Another cab took us to Chichen Itza, where we were met by a private tour guide. We arrived before all the crowds. The tour guide was amazing, he was obviously very knowledgeable and loved what he did and had so much pride in the Mayan culture. We spent over two hours at the site. A cab then took us to lunch and to visit one of the Cenotes. We had about another hour there before taking a cab back to the plane for a ride back to Cozumel. The whole day was spectacular, flawless, hasslefree. I would recommend Leo and Fly Cozumel to anyone wanting to see Chichen Itza.

02/06/2017

This is the best option to visist Chichen Itza if you are in Cozumel and have just a few hours, as we did. It was amazing, everything was perfect.

02/05/2017

“Trip to Chichen Itza”. Our trip with Leo and crew was a definite highlight of our vacation. Fantastic experience. very professional. unforgettable experience.

Perfect from the first moment! Outstanding customer service, really made us all feel special!

Took the plane from Cozumel Airport to the Mayan ruins – about an hours flight.

Everyone we came into contact with at FlyCozumel was outstanding, but special thanks to our private tour guide “Turtle” – who made the experience unforgettable, and also very informative.

If you are arriving on a cruise ship – this is the way to see the ruins! Spend the extra money, it’s absolutely worth it.

Talk about the perfect day, and the highlight of a 7 day cruise for the whole family! The jaw drop of our 15 year old when she learned the plane was waiting on us was priceless. To see our 13 year old’s nerves when he saw the size of the Cessna was hilarious. Our 10 year old was SO excited to be able to walk around Chichen Itza since he just finished studying the Mayans at school. And our 9 year old learned how brave he really is, overcoming his fears of getting in the plane and of swimming in a 150 foot deep cenote. Priceless memories…

We wanted to tour Chichen Itza while in port in Cozumel, but the 6 hours of travel by ferry and bus in order to spend 45 minutes actually touring Chichen Itza just didn’t make sense to us. Thankfully we found Fly Cozumel!

Leo was very professional, courteous and prompt in responding to emails and setting up our tour. His thoughtfulness and responsiveness in those communications gave us confidence in moving forward with the booking. The level of customer service prebooking, while on the tour and after exceeded expectations every time. And by going with Fly Cozumel we had a few hours at the ruins and beat the crowds there! Plus we had time for lunch and swimming in a cenote!

The entire day went so smooth- Leo was already at the port when we arrived and had a taxi arranged to take us to the Cozumel airport. Hugo was ready to fly us to the Chichen Itza airport when we arrived. We had the whole airport in Chichen Itza to ourselves, also unique about this trip. 🙂 Taxis were waiting on us on there, (very friendly guys happy to answer any questions!), and when we arrived at the ruins, you guessed it, Pamela was already there waiting for us! She passed us off to our guide for inside Chichen Itza, Tortuga. He was very knowledgeable and we absolutely loved the tour. What an amazing place!

We stopped afterward for lunch and swimming at Ik Kil resort. They have nice change rooms, showers and lockers for a small fee. Swimming in a sinkhole, looking up hundreds of feet at the cave walls ascending to the blue sky above, with greenery and vines dangling toward us, was incomparable and exhilarating. (Splurge for Magnum ice cream bars after, great prices!)

As far as the plane ride goes, the views all along the way were fantastic, but I personally loved that as we got closer to Chichen Itza, we could see it off in the distance. What a unique perspective, and a view that shows how grand it really is amongst its jungle surroundings. On our way back to Cozumel, we also flew by both sides of a rainbow! Icing on the cake! Thanks Hugo!

Leo, Hugo and Pamela were all SUCH great hosts- so professional, hospitable, capable and attentive. The tour was worth every penny and we certainly wish each of them and their business prosperity and happiness!

01/13/2017

Our family loved the experience. These guys took good care of us. The tour was fantastic and informative. Our guide, Raule was the best. The private flight to Chichen Itza was delightful and fun.

01/12/2017

It was fantastic!! We had a great time and the entire staff was excellent. Pamela was awesome and the guide at the ruins was extremely knowledgeable. Our pilots were very professional and we were treated like rock stars!

01/07/2017

Absolutely awesome experience. Leo was excellent and totally wow-ed us with going above and beyond to make our family trip to Chichen Itza truly unique and exceptional!

12/30/2016

A truly amazing day thank you all in all for the activities it’s a really strong tour you have with great people along the way.

12/30/2016

Thank you for setting up an extremely excellent day for our family! We will reminisce about the amazing adventure for years, I’m sure.

12/29/2016

Leo runs a very well orchestrated operation out of Cozumel. We felt very welcomed and very well taken care of during our excursion from Cozumel to Chichen Itza via a 6-seater Cessna 206. Pamela was our very knowledgeable and fun tour guide from beginning to end (except when the famous ‘Tortuga’ took over at Chichen Itza). Flying over the jungle was a truly unique experience and to see Chichen Itza from air is something not offered by the cruise line shore excursions. Leo and his staff definitely made our trip to Cozumel worth every penny! My only suggestion is to bring foam ear plugs for the plane ride. It can get a little loud at 1,500 meters.

Thanks again to Leo, Pam, and our pilots!

Hasta la próxima!

Steve

We took a single-engine plane from Cozumel to Chichen Itza where we met with an excellent local guide (nicknamed the Turtle for some reason) who showed us around Chichen Itza, which is a fantastically well-preserved and fascinating historical site. From there, we proceeded to Cenote Il Kil, a beautiful underground pool for a nice dip and before going back, at our request, Leo took us to a very authentic-looking mayan eating place with great food. Highly recommended.

11/23/2016

My Husband and i were doing a cruise around the Caribbean and really wanted to visit Chichen Itza however the bus ride from the port would have taken hours there and back. I looked online and found Fly Cozumel and am so glad i did! Leo always responded to any questions i had via email so quickly and was very organised! The day ran so smoothly we met Leo at the airport got on the plane and were at the Ruins within 45 minutes. The flight was so scenic and beautiful. We also got to visit Ik Kil Cenote which was beautiful. The flight home was fantastic as we had been walking around and swimming so were tired and just sat back and enjoyed the beautiful views below. We got back around 2pm after leaving at 9am, had we of got the bus there we would not even have been at the ruins yet. I would do this tour again in a heartbeat! Such an amazing day, thank you so much to Leo We had such a fantastic trip! We cant wait to get back to Cozumel and do another tour!

11/14/2016

We had such a great day !

So glad we found your company online as the day was perfect for us !

08/08/2016

Thanks for the great time last week and for the beautiful photos! We may be back next year. Claudio

04/09/2016

We used Fly Cozumel for 6 of us to visit the Chichen Itza ruins while vacationing in Cozumel. Having been before by bus I knew it was a hellish amount of traveling time and was excited for this new small plane option to do tour early in the day and be home for cocktails. Leo picked up our group of 6 by taxi and took us to the airport. Got us all checked in and handed off to Omar, our pilot for the day. The flight out was beautiful as the sights included Cozumel, the Yucatan coast and interior, beautiful cloud formations and a look at Chichen Itza from the air before we landed.

We then had our own private taxi van and driver who took us to the ruins and connected us with ‘Turtle’ for a private tour of the ruins. The parking lot was basically empty when we arrived (but overflowing when we left). There were no lines at all. Tickets were in our hands and we went right into the ruins. Turtle speaks excellent english (among many other languages) and was an expert on the ruins. He gave a great tour and let us do a little shopping at the vendor tables inside. I was disappointed you couldn’t climb the pyramid anymore, but the experience was still fantastic.

After the tour, our same taxi driver took us into town and we had lunch at a local outdoor restaurant. It was packed with locals which meant good food, and it was confirmed. Loved the ambiance and hosts. The taxi driver paid for our lunch (we just tipped waitress) and back to the airport.

The Chichen Itza airport is spooky. We were the only plane that came in that day and it looks like a place out of the show ‘Lost’ with several abandoned jumbo jets to the side and just 2 army guys with machine guns patrolling the place.

The flight back was hazy and because the terrain under us was very hot by then we experienced a lot of turbulence in the plane. This is why my title includes the part about brave hearted flyers. You need to know when you go that this is a 6 person plane, a little old (some seatbelts missing and air vent didn’t work so quite hot in the plane), and it gets jostled around by the turbulence so be prepared. Omar is a good pilot and he took us over another pyramid ruin that was on the way home. We were glad to see Cozumel when it came into view and glad to be on the ground safely with high cross winds at the airport.

Leo met us at the airport and got us tickets for the airport taxi. Our only negative experience was out of control of Fly Cozumel. They are required to use the airport taxi service to take us home and we had to wait 30 minutes in the hot taxi until the driver filled the taxi to capacity, one by one, before he would take us home. We had no idea why we were waiting and how many passengers he was trying to squeeze in before he left. If you are in this situation, just get a beer at the kiosk and wait until the taxi driver has enough passengers to leave.

All in all an amazing and unique, all inclusive excursion. The 6 of us so enjoyed this private tour and high class treatment by Leo’s team. I recommend it if your group is ok with small plane turbulence for the flight back. Thanks Leo!!!

03/12/2016

We have been coming to Cozumel for 15 years. Mostly to scuba dive, relax and enjoy the local resturants. Never really wanted to take the ferry and then a 3 hour drive to Chichen Itza and back.
I am so glad our family went with Leo and Fly Cozumel, he and Omar will fly you from the Cozumel airport and you can be there in about 50 minutes, allowing you to skip the crowds and lines. Leo has already arranged every detail including our private tour guide, ground transportation, lunch, swimming at cenote Ik Kil, kept us company along the way, and answered every question we had.
We had such a fun day as a family and by the end of our fun-filled day, we didn’t need to worry about a 4-hour trip back- we simply were whisked back to the airport where we could rest and relax on the short return back to Cozumel. It was really fun to be able to take pictures from the plane and see everything below. Since I’m a private pilot, I’ve always wanted to fly in Mexico, and they allowed me to help copilot the Cessna. It was an amazing experience!

01/13/2016

What a unbelievable experience that only happened because of the hard work of Leo and our pilot Omar! With weather being a factor that day, there was only a short window got us to get up and out of Cozumel. The flight yo Chichen Itza was truly amazing and included a fly by of the ruins before landing. Leo arranged for George “Turtle” to give us a private tour that lasted over three hours. With weather closing in again Omar made the call to leave asap. In route the airport in Cozumel closed and we ended up landing in Playa del Carman and had to take the fairy back. Talk about getting to do it all!! Leo took care of every detail, keeping us safe the entire way. This trip is off the hook and Leo is definitely the man!!!

11/22/2015

We went to the ruins last week on an airplane of fly cozumel and it was a great adventure. We got more than we expected. we took the van to the airport at 9 am and our airplane was ready to fly, 9:30 take off to the ruins to land at 10:20am. Great aircraft and flight, excellent pilot, nice weather round trip, delicious food, very explicit guide, the ruins worth to visit My friends and I highly recommend to our friends and people this private tour by airplane with “Fly Cozumel” which provide a very excellent service, thank you so much we had a memorable experience… We will be coming back next vacations and do more destinations in the area. Look for them on internet.

10/17/2015

What a fantastic day, we could never have expected such a good time. The staff is simple top of the line, professional, courteous, and friendly. Some of the smoothest landings I have been a part of, the ruins were amazing and we had a blast at the cenote swim was out of this world! Highly recommend this tour!

10/05/2015

I booked a private airplane tour to Chichen Itza through Fly Cozumel and I would recommend them 100%. They allowed me to customize the trip to my likings. I booked through Captain Leo and he was great with communication. We got to Chichen Itza by 9:00 am and not much crowds at the time. We spent 2 hours there with a private tour guide and left as the crowds were coming in. It was an awesome experience but it was hot hot hot even in the am. We went to a nearby Cenote and spent about an hour there and then were off to Cozumel again. It costs much more as a big tour bus tour but in my opinion is SOOOO worth it… No sweaty tour bus, crowds, stopping at other hotels, or waiting for others to catch up… Well worth it…. It was great and would do it again in a heartbeat!

10/01/2015

It’s a little more pricey than doing the Chichen Itza trip via tour bus. But if you can afford this it is SO, SO, SO worth the money! We were taken to a small airport (in a well air conditioned bus), caught our private plane, & taken directly to the ruins. Our tour guide knew everything about the Mayan people & the site. We waited in NO lines anywhere! We were taken directly past the LONG lines at the ruins & at the restaurant after the tour. We were back at our hotel & relaxing hours before we would have been had we taken the tour bus. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!!!
